💋 Sexiest Man Alive 💋
November 19th, 2008
New York City, New York
✨ Author's Note: In this one shot, for story purposes, Hugh is not married. We'll say he divorced from Deb recently to keep the flow of the story.
I double checked my appearance in the mirror before heading out. Today is the day I will be interviewing Hugh Jackman for his People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive crowning. The interview will be filmed and broadcasted live on national television. I decided to go business casual, wearing black capri slacks, a white and pink flowered cami tank top with black 6-inch heels. My dark brown hair was shoulder length and wavy. My makeup was flawless. To say nervous would be an understatement whenever you're interviewing someone that's been named the sexiest man alive.
Everything seemed perfect, so I rushed out to my 2008 Ford Mustang and sped off to our studio in downtown NYC. Traffic was hectic, but I managed to get there with 25 minutes to spare to go over the interview questions before our guest of honor arrives. One question in particular stood out to me, it was a question pertaining to his sexuality due to circulating rumors that he's gay. I'm normally shameless, but this would be an awkward thing to ask him.
"You ready?" My co-worker/camera man Justin asked, stepping in front of me.
I nodded, "As I'll ever be! Just going over some of the questions. 'How do you feel about the circulating rumors of you being gay?', 'What turns the sexiest man alive on?', Justin, what the hell are these questions?" I asked with a humorous horrified look spreading across my face.
He failed to contain his laughter, "I didn't write 'em, I just control the cameras."
I shuffled the cards, "This is going to be the weirdest interview. This dude is probably going to leave the set mid interview." I laughed.
Justin shook his head, "Hugh is a pretty good sport. He should take it in a humorous way. You should be good. He'll be here any minute, so get ready."
I nodded, "Alright."
I stood to double check the set and make sure the props were in their correct location, making sure the set was clean and presentable before sitting back down in my chair. I stood back up, hearing an Australian accent coming from the hallway, that must be Mr. Jackman.
"Glad to be here, mate. Thanks for havin' me." He said, shaking hands with our producer Mack, while walking into my view.
Mack smiled and pointed in my direction while walking Hugh up to me, "Mr. Jackman, this is Kaitlyn. She'll be doing your interview."
I smiled, extending my hand out to Hugh, "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm a huge fan and honored to be doing your interview today, Mr. Jackman."
He gave me a smile, shaking my hand, "Call me Hugh. Nice to meet ya, Sweetheart."
I can see why he was voted sexiest man alive now. No photoshop or CGI needed. This man was cut. He had the most beautiful smile I'd ever seen and did not look a day over 28 despite just turning 40 last month. He was wearing dark colored blue jeans with a white t-shirt adorned with a black blazer that made his biceps pop. I could swear the temperature in the room went up at least 20 degrees since he'd walked in.
As we sat down, I noticed him smiling at me and looking me up and down as if he were checking me out. I smiled back while grabbing the cue cards with the questions for the interview and looked towards Justin, who gave me a slight nod to let me know we were rolling,
I smiled from ear to ear as the camera zoomed in on only me, "Good afternoon, New York! Today's guest was just crowned People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive of the year. You can purchase his edition today in stores. Please allow me to welcome Mr. Hugh Jackman!"
The camera zoomed out showing Hugh and I both sitting in the chairs at the small table separating us. I looked over smiling in his direction, allowing him to speak.
He gave a huge smile towards the camera and then towards me, "Thank you for having me! How're you doing today?" He asked.
I smiled, "I'm great. How are you? How have things been since being named People's Sexiest Man Alive?"
"They've been quite interesting. I was told Brad Pitt wasn't available this year." He said with a cheeky laugh.
I failed to contain my laughter, "I believe a lot of people feel that you've earned the title, especially given your portrayal of Wolverine in Marvel's X-Men."
I could see him blushing, "Honestly, things have been great. I just finished up a movie with Nicole Kidman called Australia, which comes out next week. We're pretty pumped for that."
I shifted in my seat, "How was filming that with Nicole?"
He got serious for a moment, "It was great. She's a good friend of my ex wife's, so it was a bit awkward at first, but overall a great experience. Shooting the film back home in Australia was exciting."
I nodded, "We'll be sure to check that out next week once it premiers." I felt a slight smirk appear on my lips, "Okay, now for the good stuff you all have been waiting for. Juicy questions for the sexiest man alive. Are you ready for this, Hugh?" I asked with as much confidence as I could possibly muster.
He giggled, "Baby, I'm always ready. Let's go."
I took a dramatic deep breath for dramatic effect, "Alright, so given you're now the sexiest man alive, what are some of your turn-ons? What's something you find sexy in a woman?"
He chuckled, giving me a smirk, "Oh, getting a bit cheeky, are we? You waste no time." He noticed me trying to keep a straight face and continued, "What turns me on? I'd have to say confidence, a strong woman that can sometimes put me in my place. I also love a woman in summer clothing. I'm from Australia, I love the outdoors, I love the water. I feel like a woman comfortable in her own skin, enjoying herself on the beach is very attractive to me."
I smiled with a nod, shuffling the cards in my hands, "Good answer."
He smirked at me, shifting in his seat, "I have a question for you. When are we heading to the beach?"
I looked a bit flustered, "I didn't know we were! But I'm happy to go with you any time!" I said with a small laugh.
He chuckled, "Dually noted." He tapped his forehead as if he were retaining the information.
This man was gorgeous. I'm sure he's just being funny for the camera, but I'm still enjoying this.
Attempting to stop chuckling, I went with the next question, "So Hugh, what do you make of the circulating rumors of your sexuality?"
He shrugged, "I think they're funny. They don't really bother me."
I nodded, "What did your friends and family say after you broke the news of being the sexiest man of 2008?"
He laughed, "My mates found it funny. My kids think it's funny but also gross their father is being called sexy. My family also, but they were proud of the accomplishment."
"Given your recent divorce, the ladies would like to know, is Hugh Jackman on the market?" I asked curiously, with a slight giggle.
He looked at the camera, "Hugh Jackman is on the market, ladies." He turned to me, "Is my interviewer also on the market?"
I failed to hide the red blush appearing on my cheeks, "Is Hugh Jackman hitting on me?" I said to the camera acting as if I were in shock with a tilt of my head.
He laughed, "You didn't answer my question."
I smirked, "I'm the interviewer. I ask the questions."
He shook his head, "Feisty, are we?"
I chuckled, "Mr. Jackman, do you have a secret talent?"
He smiled, "I'm very well trained. Not toilet trained, but I'm trained in other things. Barbara Walters told me I give phenomenal lap dances."
I laughed, "Did she? Barb is a great judge, so I trust her judgment."
He immediately stepped up from his chair, looking towards Justin, "Do we have music? I'm going to demonstrate." Looking back towards me he continued, "I have to showcase my talent for you."
This has definitely been the most interesting interview of my two year career.
I looked at Justin as music began playing, "Oh? I'm getting a lap dance too?" I asked playfully throwing the cue cards across the room. "Forget the script."
Justin failing miserably to contain his laughter watched on as Hugh began swaying his hips, removing his blazer and stepping to me. I sat not knowing how to react or if this was some odd dream I was having. He was in front of me with both of my legs between his, while still swaying his hips in a seductive motion.
His voice now seductive shook me from the thought, "How're you feeling, love? Isn't this your best interview yet? C'mon, look at me, baby." His finger grasping my chin pulling it upwards to look at him with the cheekiest, sexiest smile on his face.
I nervously laughed, blushing, "Oh my god." Was all I could manage to say. His other hand gripping my shoulder as he moved closer, almost putting his crotch 2 feet from my face.
He immediately began dying laughing as he sank to the floor, placing both hands on my knees. "How was that?" He asked.
I shook my head with a smile, "That was... I mean, I've never had an interview leave me speechless."
I could hear the film crew failing to contain their laughter as Hugh reached up and hugged me, straddling my lap. This must be every woman's wet dream. His laughter piercing my ears as he hugged me.
"Job well done then." He said cockily. "Turn off those cameras. We're headed backstage." He managed to say through his laughter.
I squealed, dying of laughter, "And that concludes our interview with Mr. Hugh Jackman, ladies and gentlemen! Go pick up your issue of People's magazine's Sexiest Man Alive-" I struggled to grab the magazine but finally reaching it, holding it up towards the camera, "Today!"
The cameras immediately cut and Hugh hopped off of me, laughing at the crew's reaction as their laughter grew louder now that they didn't have to worry about the rolling cameras.
"Best interview of your life?" Hugh asked me with a knowing smile.
I laughed, shaking my head, "Definitely. I was not expecting my day at work to end with a lap dance from Wolverine."
He pulled me in for another hug, "Next interview I'll be giving you another lap dance."
I playfully rolled my eyes, hugging him back, "I'll be sure to remind you."
He got serious for a moment, "Would you like to grab lunch with me? I've got a bit before my next press."
I nodded, "Sure. I'd love to."
He gave me a smile, "Seriously though, are you on the market and when are we gonna go to the beach?"
I looked at him nervously, "I am on the market, and I'm available anytime after 3."
He grabbed my hand, leading me towards the hallway. "Great. All I needed to know. I'm looking forward to that next lap dance, beautiful." He said with a smirk.

Exploring the Barrens

May 5th: Week 1: Jersey Devil (flying goat man)
Characters: Ray Levine x fem reader
Fandom: Richard Armitage – “Ray Levine” – Stay Close
(The character “Ray Levine” was created by Harlan Coben and adapted for television by Danny Brocklehurst)
Location: Pine Barrens, NJ
Word count: 2.6k
Warnings: angst, mutual attraction, photography, deep woods, Halloween, full moon, myths, lore, fluff, romance
All Hallow’s Eve; You and Ray take a drive up to the Pine Barrens near dusk to take some photographs of flora and landscape and catch a sighting of the jersey devil.
The coastal water and the pine forests are not that far apart. Stretching a few miles west of the coastline. The Pine Barrens is a large span of National Forest in southern New Jersey that runs about 25 miles end to end. And 35 miles north to south. It is there that the story begins.
It was a relatively warm afternoon for late October. Ray drove his beat-up ford Mustang along the pine trails highway, miles and miles of expansive forests surrounding them. The sun was peaking across the barrens as it prepared to set to their left. The way the sun caught the greying green of the forest was mesmerizing. You sat your face glued to the window, as Ray’s hand strayed onto your thigh squeezing it gently, “You ok?” he asked. You turned towards him and grinned, “Yeah, yeah, of course. Its just so beautiful here”. Ray smiled, “Wait until I show you my favorite spots” his eyebrows quirked up and you giggled. Ray drove a few more miles before a break in the woods led to a parking area for hiking. He parked and got out, walking around to your side, and opening the door for you, that stuck a little until you pulled up the metal lock button. Ray stood with his hand out to you, you rose from the seat clad in hiking boots, jeans and a wooly sweatshirt. Your Nikon camera hanging from your neck ready for some shooting. Ray had his already slung across his chest, as you stood. He looked at you a moment, you thought he was going to say something, and then he just looked out to the woods, and back at you. You heart kind of fluttered in your chest. You had made up your mind to tell him how you felt today. Regardless of the outcome.
Sure, you and Ray had been hanging out a lot since you both joined a photographer’s group for “singles”, just the thought made you roll your eyes, but you needed to make new friends after you had moved from Seattle, so you made the best of it. Coming across the country like this was intense. The people, the scenery, even the ocean felt different. Some things were still the same, and that was the woods. You loved the woods, the smell of it, the sounds of it, the feeling of safety in it. When you were a little girl you used to hide in the woods behind your house, the subdivision was small then, and you could play for hours in the woods without a soul to bug you. Your best friend Lisa came too when she was there, but Lisa had died shortly after her 9th birthday of Leukemia and looking out to the barrens of pines you sighed remembering her. Ray looked back at you, “You sure, your alright?” he said in that eastern accent you had begun to develop a crush on.
“Yeah” looking at him, “just thinking about people I used to know” Ray came closer to you then, leaning in, “demons from the woods, it is all hallows eve you know”. His breath so near your face made you hold your breath a second. You smiled as he stood back up to his full height. “Not like that Ray,” you laughed, “But thanks for the reminder. I’ll make sure and spook you on this trek”. You sort of childishly punched him in the shoulder and he put his arm around your shoulder in a friendly manner, leading you down the trail ahead of you.
You both trudged through the crunching leaves and underbrush, looking up at the canopy of pines. You snapped a few shots as Ray stepped off the trail head and knelt down to a take a close up of some moss? You couldn’t actually tell what he was doing. You stopped and asked him, “What did you find?” Ray looked up over his shoulder, “Oh just some really textured moss, I’m working on this texture landscape project”. You smiled, “I like texture, are you staying color or doing black and whites” Ray stood up, still looking down at this subject, “Actually probably both, I’m not sure yet. But maybe you can help me afters” He smiled, kind of flirtatiously. You had known him for about a month or so and still couldn’t figure out his, well tells. It was Atlantic City right; do we see people in forms of gamblers on this journey? You weren’t sure. You both continued back on to the trailhead as the sun got lower and lower to the horizon. It spread further out in the sky causing a dark orange red hue to fill the forest underbrush. The cool tones of the night starting in as well. You had packed your night lens in your pocket and were hoping to catch some moon light.
Ray stopped again in a clearing and laid down, looking up with his camera towards the canopy. You followed suit and laid down beside him. He chuckled looking through his lens, “We should meet like this more often,” he said, again teasingly you thought. I mean, was he actually flirting?
You looked through your own lens, and peripherally caught him looking at you, “Yeah, we should” you said. Ray put his camera on his chest and looked at you, sighing heavily. “Look, (fem reader), I really like you. This is fun, but if I’m overstepping or offending you, please tell me”. You looked at him, seriousness in your eyes, “No. its fine. I am glad to know its flirting. I just thought you were, well friendly, which I haven’t heard is the norm out east”. Ray smiled with his eyes sparkling in response to your acceptance, then huffed out looking back up through his lens, “Yeah we get that a lot. Not sure who started it, but its not going to end anytime soon”. You laugh, “well it has a certain charm I’m sure”. Ray smiled, “Yeah in the city for sure, but here in AC its not, well cute. Its just annoying”. You put down your camera again, “Sorry if I offended you then” Ray winked, “Nah, its fine. No worries”. He sat up first and then offered to help you up. Pleasantries were exchanged. And now the darkness was seeping into the woods. You walked further and further into the Barrens, making it harder and harder to see. You couldn’t hear anything from the lone highway, or any other woodland creature.
Ray stopped to change his lens and so did you, realizing that this low light was going to mean longer shutter times. “So where is this ‘spot’ you wanted to show me?” you asked, inquisitive. You could still make out his red flannel jacket and carved jawline in the dusk light. Ray eyes flashed just then, and your stomach flopped up to your chest. “Its this way, come on,” and he grabbed your sleeve and pulled you through the shorter shrubs and underbrush. “It’s a ruin up a head. I found it last spring”. His grip on your sleeve slackened, as he stopped short of his mark. A clicking sound of a pen light and he cast a hazy glow around an old, abandoned shack in the woods. It stood about 12 feet high, with a caved in roof, and lots of lichen. Ray giggled under his breath, “Here it is”, he said excitedly. “Nice, you want to invite me in?” Ray looked down at you, you weren’t short persay, but anyone was shorter than Ray, he was 6’3” of gorgeous, chiseled features and broad shoulders and an ass that made jeans a necessity in his wardrobe. “yeah, of course,” Ray spread his arm wide in a Disney like welcome and you snorted a laugh. The door was rusting off its hinges, but Ray still managed to open it, and when you peaked in it was a playful embodiment of cobwebs and plant growth. Mushrooms dusted the now earthen floorboards. You stepped inside a little unsure of what you would disturb. Ray was right behind you, his breath on the back of your neck.
“Maybe we shouldn’t disturb it” you said, trying to step back and bumping into him further. His arm caught your waist, and you gasped a second, and dropped your camera to the ground. Ray spun you around to face him, “You scared of some cobwebs?” His hand moved to your chin, as he tilted it up, and moved in for a kiss. You did everything you could not to move, you’d wanted to kiss him since the first day you met. He’s so scruffy and honest and earnest, a little haunted, but not more than most over 35. Your lips met softly, and fire burned in your belly, sending pulses shooting in all directions, all the way down to your feet. Your knees buckled, and Ray caught you steady on your feet. He smiled in the kiss, and your arms made it around his shoulders. Ray moved you carefully through the doorway of the shack and stood tall again, you cradled against him. The kiss broke off, and he let go of you. You blushed and turned back to the shack, looking for your camera on the ground. Ray eyes were heady in the low light as he looked at you. “Can I borrow your light, I can’t see my camera now” Ray pulled the pen light from his pocket and handed it to you. A click illuminated the shadows in the shack and you yelped as you saw a large spider living a web very near where you entered, it twitched in its web. Ray chuckled under his breath. “You spook easily, I didn’t think that about you” You picked up the camera, keeping your eye and the light on the large spider, “Yeah, well there wasn’t a check box for that at the speed dating thing. “Are you afraid of spiders?” he asked pointedly. “I guess, I mean, that one is huge,” you swept the light back over for him to see. Ray came close and bent down, “yeah she is a nice specimen”, smiled. “I’m not like phobia afraid of them, but I don’t go getting into trouble with them either”. Ray looked at you again, “Fair, enough, guess I shouldn’t tell you about the Jersey Devil then, huh?”
You looked up at Ray again, still lingering through thoughts from that kiss, “The Jersey Devil?”
Ray looked back over his shoulder as a screech from an owl disturbed the blissful nightfall. “Yeah,” he started to trudge again back towards the trail, “Rumor has it he haunts these barrens. There are sightings of some ungodly creature with like goat feet and head, bat wings and a forked tail”. You kind of laugh as you look around the surrounding darkness, “Are you serious?” Ray looked back at you, “You think I would make that up, your not a tourist, (fem reader)”. You chagrinned, “I suppose not. Have you read about it?” Ray stopped, “Well actually I did a bit of digging about the original story, and it turns out the original family, the Leeds’ their home was not too far from here” Ray pulled out his phone and it showed some pins on a map, “I’ve been looking for it, well,” he smirked, “Sort of. It would be fun to find, you know?” You nodded, “Sure I could see that paying better than the other stuff” Ray put his phone away, “I know, I know, its just kind of bugging me, I’ve been coming out to this woods for years, and I’ve never spotted him, not once, so” he blew out a breath. “So its kind of like your mission then, ya?” you asked.
Ray, looked at you, “Nah, more of a hobby. A fascination, but I can think of other ways to fascinate myself” Ray moved towards you again, this time, your hands met his chin, and though you both were wearing cameras around your necks you still managed to kiss again, just as earnestly as the first time. Ray shifted his camera around behind him, and then shifted yours with his hands, keeping the kiss locked. He held you close to him, your arms swept up and crushed against his frame. Eyes closed you both reveled in the sensation of your lips meeting again and the driving heat that resonated between you both in the darkness. Ray started to kiss your cheek, and down your neck slackening his hold on you. A nearby tree became his friend, as he directed you toward it, leaning in more, deepening the kiss. Your heart thumped wildly and your feet tingled at his kisses. You pulled him in closer as well in returning passion. He moaned into your mouth, as his tongue slid along your lower lip.
A high pitched and sharp sound cut through the night from far off. The sound so sharp it broke you both from the kiss, “What in the fuck was that?” you blurted out. Ray was a bit disoriented, and snapped back immediately as the screech came again, “An owl?” You shook your head, “that’s far too loud even for a screech owl”. Ray kept you close, “Whatever it is, I don’t think its coming this way”. The screech was heard again, and an eerie fog started to descend upon the grove. “Ray?” Ray stood strong, “Yeah?” “I think it is getting closer”. Ray grinned and rubbed your shoulders, “Its ok. I got you”. You looked up at him, as the moon started to shine across the eerie scene, breaking from the clouds, “Ray, its Halloween and were in the woods with a weird creature. Maybe we should just go”. Ray caressed your face, “Still spooked huh?” he rubbed your back, “Alright, we can go. Want to go grab a bite?” You nodded, though in the low light it was all assumed. Ray took your hand and led you back towards the trail again, following what he could of the markers with his pen light and his memory.
You were aware though that each step was moving in the direction of that terrifying sound. What would you encounter on the way back to the car?
The sound screeched again, this time closer, and even Ray paused, “Ok, that was closer”. His hand on your hand squeezed tighter reassuring you of your safety, “Come on, were almost back to the car”. You paused feeling something blow past you, “Ray?” Ray spun around as a large amalgamation of an animal resembling a goat, too tall for its frame, wings tucked back, and clawed hands grunted and bit sharply towards you. You flipped your flash on and hit the click on your camera several times trying to disorient it. It shook off the brightness and Ray pulled you back, “(fem reader) get back!” You forced yourself to take a shot and kept clicking while Ray and this creature tussled in the brush. “Ray! Don’t!” you called out, but Ray already had it by its scruffy neck and was punching it profusely. It gurgled and screeched again before loosing consciousness. Ray swept his hair off his eyes and wiped the spit from the creature off his face with his sleeve. He let go of its neck and dropped it to the forest floor. Ray turned to you, “Are you alright, (fem reader)?” You nodded, “Yes, yeah. Are you?” Ray rolled his shoulder, “Yeah, you can’t mess with me, in these woods” He laughed, he saw your look of fright and came to you, “Come here”, his bear arms came around you in a welcoming hug and you felt safe, so so safe in his arms. He kissed the top of your head and you sighed into his chest, as he rubbed your back.
“Well time for a drink I think, yeah? We’ve had quite a day of it”, He kissed your head again and kept his arms on your shoulder as you both walked back to the car, “Ray?” “Yeah?” “Do you think that was the Jersey Devil?” “I don’t know, it looked like a deranged goat, but either way, were safe”. He smiled. He placed you in the passenger seat and climbed into the driver’s side. Ray fired up the engine, the Mustang rumbled as he eased out to the highway and headed back to the shore.

Go For a Ride Day
Go For a Ride Day, celebrated on November 22, urges you to just get up and get out! Do you ever feel like you’re tied to your laptop/phone/tablet screens? We’ve become a pretty sedentary bunch — a far cry from the people who discovered countries, oceans, and animals simply by getting off the couch and exploring. Make today a day to set your spirit free and enjoy your wanderlust on whatever mode of transportation suits you best. Bike, boat, car, skateboard, sleigh—it doesn’t matter what you choose! Pick a location you’ve always wanted to visit and make today the day you’ll go.
History of Go For A Ride Day
Birthdays are fun and Christmas means presents (if you’re lucky), but nothing quite compares with the magical day you get your driver’s license. That’s when your world truly changes forever. Why? Cars mean freedom. You can suddenly go anywhere at anytime (as long as your parents are cool with your plans). Such is the nature of transportation — something we in the 21st century take for granted. We all grew up with planes, trains and automobiles — so we’re quite used to getting where we need to go.
But it wasn’t always that way. When President Jefferson asked Lewis (and, eventually, Clark) to explore the American West in 1804, there were no nonstop flights from St. Louis to the Oregon coast. As the History Channel describes it: “The excursion lasted over two years. Along the way they confronted harsh weather, unforgiving terrain, treacherous waters, injuries, starvation, disease and both friendly and hostile Native Americans. Nevertheless, the approximately 8,000-mile journey was deemed a huge success and provided new geographic, ecological and social information about previously uncharted areas of North America.”
And today we complain about trying to squeeze our carry-ons into the overhead bin.
Americans have always loved to “go for a ride” — with whatever mode of transportation existed. Horses. Boats. Bicycles. And of course, the ubiquitous car. The nation had a long love affair with automobiles starting in the mid 20th century and lasting until recently — as a new generation of car buyers, born after the car craze, loses interest in design — focusing instead on practicality. Stellar gas mileage makes Priuses as sexy as Porsches. Well, almost.
Go For A Ride Day timeline
1950s Car culture
Cars inspired new businesses like drive-through restaurants and drive-in movie theaters, and employed one in six working Americans.
1956 Interstate highways
President Eisenhower authorizes $25 billion for the construction of 41,000 miles of the Interstate Highway System.
1964 ‘Pony car’
Ford introduces the sporty and powerful Mustang — the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A.
2019 Driverless cars get smarter
MIT engineers develop a system to help autonomous cars determine if there’s a moving object coming around the corner.
Go For A Ride Day FAQs
What does Go For A Ride Day celebrate?
Go For a Ride Day 2019 encourages us to get out in the world, as opposed to seeing it on a screen. Any mode of transportation will do on this day. What was America’s first car company?
Brothers Charles and Frank Duryea founded the Duryea Motor Wagon Company in 1893, becoming the first American automobile manufacturing company. What happened to supersonic jet travel?
The Concorde, which flew faster than the speed of sound, never turned a profit. When the plane broke the sound barrier (about 760 mph), it created shock waves that would hit the ground with a loud and sudden sonic “boom.” The FAA eventually banned all commercial aircraft from flying at supersonic speeds over land.
Go For A Ride Day Activities
Make it fun
Make it easy
Make it memorable
Dare yourself to try something new and adventurous. Why not try a mode of transportation you’ve never used before? Suggestions include jet skiing, parasailing, or going on a hot air balloon ride. In colder climates you could try a sleigh ride, or a horse drawn carriage.
Maybe you weren’t born to be wild, but don’t let that stop you from joining in the fun. Play tourist in your own city or neighborhood. Use public transit and see the sights like visitor.
Exploring is an adventure, but it can be even more fun if you have someone to share it with. Bring along an adventurous friend or family member to help make some memories. If your local friends are sticks in the mud, then bring your more adventurous friends along virtually by posting your adventure to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
Why We Love Go For A Ride Day
It’s an escape from reality
It can be great exercise
It helps us be spontaneous
Every now and then we just need something to break up the status quo and make us feel alive! Go For A Ride Day exists for that very reason. It can be hard to get motivated to see new places or even try new foods, but Go For A Ride Day provides the momentum.
You can try skateboarding or using a scooter. How about getting out your helmet and going for a long bike ride? Did you know you can burn over 400 calories an hour horseback riding?
Our lives tend to run to the predictable, and for the most part, that predictability helps the world go round. But we all still have a small streak of rebellion, and that's what Go For a Ride Day helps bring out.

alabama , born karawek at birth , was born to a thai politician and his mistress . naturally , the last thing he wanted was for it to get out that he’d been unfaithful to his wife and so when his mistress turned up pregnant he sent her off on her way with a bundle of cash ( expecting she’d end the pregnancy ) and the issue would be settled . she did no such thing though , wanting to capitalize on having the child of a prominent figure . her plans quickly fell by the wayside though when she realized she simply was not cut out for motherhood , no amount of money could make her even slightly decent at it . despite that she wanted the best for her daughter , even if she couldn’t give her that . at just under six months , she put her daughter up for closed adoption . the levington’s , a prominent hollywood couple who were sure they’d never be able to have children of their own at the time , wanted to start a family . the second they came across the little girl , they fell absolutely in love and the adoption process started from there . changing her name to the name at the top of mrs. levington’s dream board , they made a point to include a part of her given name at birth as her middle name though , a thanks to her biological parents for giving them their baby girl in a way .
the eldest of what would become known as the levington clan , life for alabama was picture perfect . a close ( enough ) bond with all of her siblings and two loving parents . not to mention the money and fame that came with her last name , there wasn’t much for the young girl to really ask for but that didn’t stop her from doing so . known to never really be satisfied , she’s always thought there was something bigger and better around the corner and can’t seem to stomach the idea of anyone getting such a thing over her . call it entitlement , if you’d like .
growing up in los angeles didn’t do her any favors , submerged in a world were who you are and what you look like was all that really mattered . her mother was the first to jump on any chance to make her precious little girl the absolute best . taught at a young age to always step out of the house like you were walking the catwalk . you’d catch alabama dead before you ever caught her out and about in sweatpants ( to be honest , i don’t even think she owns a pair of sweatpants ) . the world really got a glimpse into how image obsessed the young girl was when she got a nose job for her sixteenth birthday . truthfully it was like some sort of right of passage among her highschool friends back then . a group of private school girls who were more cliquey than anyone could really stomach .
for as long as anyone could remember she was the most pristine of her siblings , the one who always put her best foot forward . that all changed at seventeen though after a more public break up took place , she was left distraught . the only way she knew to numb her feelings was to fall into the party scene . she drank more than her body could handle , sobered up with lines , and didn’t get home until the sun was coming up . it was a rather dark point in her life . the only silver lining being she could stop when she wanted to ( no , seriously ) , she just didn’t want to at that time . her parents only taking it seriously when she was arrested at school for possession of drugs ( truth is , the drugs weren’t even hers she was just taking the fall for a friend but that’s something that’s never gone public ) . once they bailed her out , they almost immediately shipped her off to some rehab facility in malibu . the doctors there quickly realizing they weren’t dealing with an addict by any means just a teenage girl who was upset and lashing out . it’s unfortunately a trait no one has been able to help her unlearn , to this day she’s known to be rather difficult , especially when she feels she has been done wrong . she will lash out - violently , verbally , you never really know if venomous words or a shockingly chin rocking hit are going to come from her .
after her stint in rehab , she switched highschools ( due to being expelled ) and being her quickly found herself a new group of friends at the top of the food chain , she’s a natural social climber and doesn’t really need to put too much effort into doing so . soon enough she graduated and let’s be real her grades were good enough to get her a diploma but that’s about it . college had never been in her plans and thankfully she already had a career lined up for herself in race car driving which she’d picked up around the age of thirteen when she started kart racing . it started off as her chasing an adrenaline rush but quickly turned into so much more , after her first major competition as a teenager people around her began making claims she could break records for women in the world of racing . she has gone on to proving them all right with her career breaking barriers and winning races no woman before her ever has . alabama is the first to say the way she carries herself on the tracks is much like the way she carries herself throughout life . a women in a male dominated environment who refuses to take on the spot as anything less than just as dominating as her male counterparts , unafraid of whether that makes her too much in anyone’s eyes or not .
sometime in 2017 , she was reached out to by a man who claimed to be her biological father . a shock to her system , not because she didn’t know she was adopted ( that much was clear to her ; and her parents had been rather upfront about it ) but because she knew it was a closed adoption . convinced her whole life they wanted nothing to do with her and by that point in her life she’d come to terms with that . he had disclosed that he only had so much longer on the earth ( he was very sick ) and wanted to meet the daughter that he never got to know . initially she ignored him entirely . it was her turn to shun him from her life -- she couldn’t miss someone she never knew and she refused to be disloyal to her parents , the two people in the world who chose her and loved her . after a few months though her dad explained to her that he thought it’d be best for her to meet her biological father . she sat on the idea for a couple weeks before deciding to reach out . a few days later she was on a flight to thailand . what was only supposed to be a weekend trip turned out to be a month and a half long . she connected with him and a piece of her wanted to be there for him in his last days . soon after his funeral she returned back to the states . going back to life as she knew it pretty much without a bat of her eyes . given a sort of closure she never realized she needed in her time in thailand ( even though her biological mother has never reached out , although before he passed he did give alabama the woman’s name ) .
the tabloids often have alot to say about her and her antics but one that can never be said about this nepotism baby is that she doesn’t hold loyalty and honesty in the highest regard . a true rarity in the world she lives in but alabama will fall on a sword for those closest to her ( i.e her arrest back in highschool ) , she may have a cool hard shell covering her at all times but she cares immensely about her family and those she deems her friends . she’s the girl who is still close with most of her childhood friends just simply because you never turn your back on someone ( unless they give you reason to ) .
known for having a terrible track record when it comes to the men in her life , leaving her to be deemed a scorn women by many tabloids at just the age of twenty - six . her bad luck started at seventeen and has recently been topped off with her rather distasteful split with ford , in which the whole world watched him cheat on her . to say she is the leading champion of the men suck club would be an understatement . she doesn’t trust men to save a life and frankly she feels she’s entitled to those feelings .

7 Most Sought-after Muscle Car Collectibles
Today, the muscle car has become a timeless classic that continues to resonate with automobile enthusiasts to this day. From their beginnings as affordable performance cars to their transformation into high-end collectables today, there’s hardly a facet of these iconic automobiles that haven’t been explored. What started out as simple cars with low production and little aftermarket support soon turned into a fully-fledged culture of modified street machines with an atmosphere all its own. Today, many of these modern classics are valued at prices that reflect how rare and special they are. Here are some of the most sought-after muscle car collectables today:
Dodge Charger Daytona
The Dodge Charger was one of the first-ever muscle cars to be built, produced from the mid-1950s to the 1970s. The very top-line model was the Daytona, equipped with a 4.05-litre V8 Magnum engine that could generate 345 horsepower. Although the Charger Daytona was only released for two consecutive years (1968 and 1969), it was available in two- or four-door coupe or convertible forms.
The rarity of this classic muscle car, with only 1,046 Chargers manufactured that year, has made it a highly sought-after collector’s item today. Along with its exclusivity, the Charger Daytona also made history as the first muscle car to hold a proper performance title. The Daytona could reach 60 mph in 7 seconds and 171 mph at its peak speed.
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The iconic Chevrolet Corvette was unveiled in 1953 as the American answer to European sports cars such as Ferrari and Porsche. With its fibreglass body, detachable roof, and lightweight aluminium chassis, the Corvette was the first affordable US sports car of its kind and a popular choice among performance car fans.
The Stingray, which was produced from 1964 to 1967, was the mid-engine version of the classic model and is still highly sought after by muscle car collectors. Equipped with a 327-horsepower, 4-barrel V8 engine connected to a 3-speed automatic transmission, the Stingray could go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 145 mph. With only 27,901 Stingrays ever built, the model’s rarity has only added to its desirability.
Ford Mustang Mach 1
In 1969, the Ford Mustang Mach 1 made its grand debut and quickly became the best-selling sports car in the nation. This ‘muscle car’ of the South quickly made its mark outside the traditional Southern car culture and was modified in several ways. Six model variations were available throughout its production run, with the Mustang Mach 1 being the most sought-after option.
The Mach 1 was based on the fastback Mustang coupe and featured a redesigned exterior to show off its aggressive look. Powering the vehicle was a 4-barrel V8 engine with 351 horsepower and a 3-speed automatic transmission. Despite the fact that only 40,970 of these Mach 1 models were produced, they are now among the most sought-after muscle car collectables.
Shelby GT500KR
The Shelby GT500KR, released in 1967, was Shelby’s most powerful offering, available in limited numbers and exclusively in black with a white hood stripe. Based on the Shelby GT500 sports car, the GT500KR boasted a 5.8-litre engine and was connected to a 4-speed automatic transmission, together producing an impressive 527 horsepower. In addition, the Shelby GT500KR was capable of reaching a top speed of 202 mph, making it one of the rarest and fastest muscle cars of all time. Less than 2,500 of these vehicles were ever produced, making them a real collector’s item.
Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
The Pontiac Trans Am was one of the earliest pony cars to make a lasting impression on the racing scene. It featured a 4.5-litre V8 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission and delighted drivers with its performance variants until 1994, when it was discontinued. During the 1988 model year, only 3,531 Trans Ams were produced, making them one of the rarest muscle cars to collect. Even after the car was discontinued, it continued to be a popular model among enthusiasts and collectors, making it a sought-after classic to this day.
Chevrolet Camaro ZR-1
The Chevrolet Camaro was one of the first modern muscle cars in America to feature independent front suspension. The ZR-1 was an ultra-rare performance package available on the 1993 Camaros in two colours: black and blue. This limited-edition model featured a manual 6-speed transmission, alloy wheels, and a free-flowing exhaust. On top of that, the ZR-1 was equipped with a powerful 6-cylinder engine that could generate up to 355 horsepower—an impressive increase compared to the regular Camaro SS, which was powered by a V8.
Pontiac GTO
The Pontiac GTO was the epitome of the muscle car era in the 1980s, and its legacy continues to this day. It was built from 1968 through 2003, and its engine was a 6.0-litre V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Production of the GTO was limited, with only 9,721 produced in 2006, making it one of the rarest muscle cars to collect. Such was its popularity that the Pontiac GTO is still one of the most sought-after models for car enthusiasts and collectors. With its power and reliability, the GTO continues to be one of the top muscle car models available today.
Chevrolet Camaro SS
The Chevrolet Camaro made its debut in 1966, paving the way for a new era of affordable American muscle cars. Its revolutionary independent front suspension made it one of the first post-war American cars to feature this innovative technology. The Camaro SS model, produced between 1967 and 1978, was one of the most desirable and powerful cars of its time. Boasting a 6.2-litre V8 engine that produced 580 horsepower, the Camaro SS was easy to maintain and drive, making it an extremely sought-after model. The Camaro SS was the perfect blend of power, convenience, and aesthetics.
Speaking of aesthetics, the quality of the car finishing or polishing products you choose can make or break the look of your car, especially if you own a muscle car. With the right car polishing products, you can bring out its true beauty and make it stand out from the crowd. Plus, well-maintained cars last longer, so investing in quality car products is an investment in your car’s future.

talk about your muse’s most prized possession(s).
If Jasper is being honest he’d say his number one prized possession is his Best Actor Oscar, which he received at 38 years old for a detective noir film titled ‘A Conflict of Shadows’. He never thought he’d ever be nominated, let alone win. Sometimes he looks at it and thinks he never deserved it in the first place, but other times he’ll feel proud and remember all the hard work and passion he put into his winning performance. He keeps it on his living room shelf where most of his important items (like photos, books, ornaments, etc) go and every time he sees it he still thinks it’s crazy.
His black 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a close second. It had been Jasper’s dream car ever since he was a kid and when the day came where he could finally purchase one and not have to worry about expenses for the day that dream had been fulfilled. He treats his car with the utmost love and respect and enjoys driving around town as well as up and down the coast. It also reminds him of how life is a balance of good fun and serious hardwork.
Jasper also keeps a photograph of himself and a slightly older woman named Kathryn Liu on his living room bookshelf. She was the director of a period series he had the lead role in that earned him national recognition at the age of 24. She took a chance on Jasper as a young and inexperienced actor and no amount of gratitude will ever be enough to repay her and her decision to keep him on as the lead launched his career. They also worked together on a film just a few years before Jasper retired, but he’s indebted to her always and they remain close friends.

What positive impacts has Tesla had on society and humanity beyond increasing their stock value?
COMMENTARY:
Probably the most significant impact from my perspective in the sex appeal Musk injected into the EV market.
Personally, I’m a plug-in hybrid fan which I can’t afford, just for full disclosure.
Musk changed the perception of EV from the image of golf carts at retirement communities to the Ford 100 pick up truck without the gun racks. In a James Bond kind of way. You know, chain guns behind the running light. You can imagine yourself driving at 125 kmh at night with the lights outcoming home from a party in Argentina. All in a day’s work. That’s essential the sexual motif of the WWE MAGA Conservative hyper-masculinity of the neo-Nazi incel at Charlottesville that’s driving Trump’s polls and the right-wing response to his debate performance.
So, he was able to tap into all those Euro-dollar cash flows Jeffery Epstein was working and the Wall Street hedge fund operations like Bill Ackman and Scooter Braun could funnel a lot of laundered green backs into the latest Tesla ride to go with the latest iPhone and pod-cast studio. And you could do your whole broadcast a couple days in a row and only recharge once at home, The Tesla is still a golf cart in a senior retirement community, but granny can still kick some ass.
As near as I can tell, there is a shole strata of Stanford-Silicon Valley Oligarchs like Musk and Thiel and all the usual usual suspects who have been all in on Trump since the Russian Nazification Oligarchs hacked Clinton’s cyber community and stole her analytics and gave it to Trump so he could game the Electoral College to steal the election from the popular vote. Like what happened in Florida in 2000 with the butterfly ballot. These people, like Musk have been like Wiley C. Cayote having run off a cliff when Trump was unable to steal the 2020 election and the coup attempt failed and are, collectively, trying to to look down. Musk’s EnergyX promotions is a symptom of their panic.
For Musk, the irony is that the sex appeal of the EV he created has spawned about 6 market strata beneath Tesla that undercuts the potential for him actually ever earning the $46 billion executive package his stock holders are hoping create solid ground beneath Wiley E. Cayote to continue to indulge his role as the nemesis of the DEI corporate culture and sustain the white supremacist economics that existed during the Trump administration, Musk created the Cadillac of the EV revolution, in a HumVee kind of way, but there is a Ford Mustang out there getting ready to pounce and Tesla will became as relevant to Gen Z as the Buick.
The thing that scares me is the response of most of the media and too many Democrat Biden votes is that they agree with Musk that Trump’s debate performance put the MAGA universe back on solid ground and that was Biden who had run off the cliff. The difference between the Trump voter and the Biden voter and the woke Biden voter is that, for the woke Biden voter, Musk and his white supremacist colleagues need to continue to not look down.
I don’t know what to say about the media on all sides. but once the Biden voters quite wetting their pants and take comfort from the total lack of panic in the steady as she goes continue to march self-possession of the woke Biden voter, the election will be over and Trump and Bannon will be able to share notes in adjoining cells.
And the war around the Dunbas and the genocide in Gaza will be snuffed out by the United Nations Peace Keepers under the authority of the Dayton Accords. In spite of John Bolton’s attempt to sabotage NATO.

DAY OFF EXPLORING
WF UPDATE (5/14/24).
Your legs should be happy today. No biking. It’s raining.
We decided to visit the National Museum of the U. S. Air Force. It’s about 5 miles from our lodging.
Aviation is a big deal in Dayton. The Wright Brothers spent their childhood here. (Orville was born here and Wilbur, born in nearby Indiana, moved here with the family when he was a toddler.) When the Wright Brothers built their aircraft factory in 1903- -the first aircraft factory in history- -they built it in Dayton.
The Air Force museum is next to a big Air Force base. The base is a consolidation of two different airfields. One airfield, called Wright Field, was named after the Wright Brothers. The other field, called Patterson Field, was named after a pilot who was killed during a crash in the area. Today, the big base is called Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The museum, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, is the oldest military aviation museum in the world. It’s also the largest military aviaton museum in the world. It features more than 360 aircraft and missiles.
Don’t worry. I’m not going to barrage you with a boatload of detailed information. I know my audience. I’ll share 3 highlights:
1. Like most people my age, I have a fascination with JFK. Even though he was assassinated when I was a toddler, the older folks kept talking about JFK. Many American homes, and every Catholic School, featured a photo of JFK.
On the Dallas street where Kennedy was shot, I’ve stood on the “X” that marks the spot where the bullet hit JFK. Above that spot, I’ve stood at the book depository window where the assassin fired the shot. I’ve stood at JFK’s grave.
Today, at the Air Force Museum, I completed the rest of the JFK assassination story. I walked through the plane that carried JFK to Dallas on that fateful day. It’s also the plane that carried Kennedy’s body back to Washington DC. Just before that return trip, LBJ took the oath of office on that plane.
At the time of Kennedy’s assassination, the plane was brand new. It became “Air Force One” in 1962. It remained in service for 36 years. In addition to Kennedy, it was used by Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Bush I, and Clinton. That plane has seen a ton of history. It was unsettling to walk through the plane that brought Kennedy to Dallas and flew his body home.
2. On a lighter note, there’s a small plane right next to JFK’s Air Force One. When LBJ was president, he liked to go to his ranch in Stonewall, Texas. The ranch was about 80 miles from the nearest Air Force Base. The Air Force needed a little plane to fly the Johnson family from the base to the ranch. They bought a little plane and they called it the “Lady Bird Special.”
3. The last vehicle I’ll discuss isn’t a plane. It’s a Ford Mustang. This customized Ford Mustang is called the X-1. It’s named after the first plane that broke the sound barrier. From the outside, it looks like a fancy Mustang. The inside is redesigned to look like the cockpit of a jet fighter. If you saw a photo of the inside, you would think that you were looking at a jet fighter. There are two seats down the centerline of the car, one ejection seat in front and another ejection seat in the back. It’s the set-up for a pilot and co-pilot. The instrument panel looks like the panel from a plane. Like a plane, there’s a small u-shaped steering wheel The stick shift looks like a flight stick. It’s a cool car. For 10 years, the Air Force drove the X-1 all over America as a recruiting tool.
After 3 hours at the museum, we headed off for lunch. I’ll report 3 things from that trip:
1. We drove past a small storefront business that’s obviously owned by some funny guys. It’s called “Free At Last Bail Bonds.” Their slogan is “Call Us And Let Freedom Ring.” Who knew that bail bondsmen were funny?
2. Does anybody remember Erma Bombeck? I do. She was my mother’s favorite writer. She focused on everyday life. She wrote funny books and funny newspaper columns. She was hilarious. Her books included: “I Lost Everything In The Post-Natal Depression,” “The Grass Is Always Greener Over The Septic Tank,” and “If Life Is A Bowl Of Cherries, What Am I Doing In The Pits?” On the way to lunch, we drove on Erma Bombeck Boulevard. It turns out that Erma was raised in Dayton, went to college at the University of Dayton, and is buried in Dayton. Small world.
3. Yes, we finally made it to lunch. Our goal was to try Dayton-style pizza. Until we got here, we didn’t know that Dayton Pizza was a thing. Did you? It has a very thin crust, unsweetened sauce, and it’s sliced in tiny squares. We hit a legendary place called Cassano’s. Yummy. Everyone who visits Dayton should go to Cassano’s.
I hope you enjoyed your day off. We’re back on the bikes tomorrow. We’ll see you on the trail.

National Ford Mustang Day
Look for an event or showcase near you to admire Ford Mustangs throughout the ages, and learn about the history of this popular every-mans sports car.
It’s got sleek lines and a powerful engine, its name speaks of wild places and adventurous times. For generations it was the car of choice for action heroes and spies alike, even James Bond drove one in Goldfinger. For some it was the very flavor of summer sunsets and nighttime drives on youth’s misadventures, but it always brought them home safely. We’re talking about the Ford Mustang, of course, and Ford Mustang Day celebrates this incredible and iconic piece of American engineering.
History of Ford Mustang Day The Ford Mustang was first introduced to the world in April of 1964. The World’s Fair was in full swing, and this car was Ford’s introduction as the car of the future. This introduction of the Mustang also was the introduction of the first Pony Car, to wit, a line of small sporty cars with sleek lines and an affordable price-tag. Sales of the Mustang proved that this car was going to become an American favorite, with well over 400,000 sales in the first year it was in production, an unprecedented success for an unprecedented vehicle. The muscle car of the time was the Thunderbird, and that beauty was the one that every serious sports car fanatic wanted to own. The Mustang came into existence with the idea not of replacing that vehicle, but instead putting its like within reach of the working class. Such was its popularity that over 500 clubs celebrating the Mustang came into existence within just 3 years of its release. This is the kind of fanaticism that’s usually saved for classic cars, but the Mustang just rolled right in and took its place as a new classic right off the bat. Such was the popularity of the Mustang that 60 years later over 9 million of them have been sold. Ford Mustang Day celebrates this vehicle that came out of nowhere to become an American institution.
Celebrating Ford Mustang Day All over the country (and indeed, all over the world) festivals and celebrations are held that honor this vehicle. 60 years of different models of this line are brought out by enthusiasts, most maintained in impeccable shape, standing as an icon of their time. You can find these with a simple web search, and then go out and see the march of time and technology as it reshaped the overall appearance of the Mustang while leaving its underpinning sense of aesthetic and purpose untouched. Ford Mustang Day presents an opportunity to really appreciate what American Engineering can do, and how a car can change the face of the automotive industry.
